Did you buy an eSIM from Easy Chip and want to know how to install it on your iPhone? In this tutorial, we will go through the complete procedure, which takes less than 2 minutes and works on all compatible iPhones.
Compatible iPhones with eSIM
All iPhones from the iPhone XS (2018) support eSIM:
- iPhone XS, XS Max, XR
- iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2020 and 2022)
- iPhone 12 series (12 mini, 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max)
- iPhone 13 series
- iPhone 14 and later
- iPhone 15 and 16 series (in the USA, eSIM only — no tray)
Attention: iPhones sold in Brazil before 2022 and unlocked work normally. Carrier-locked models may require unlocking.
Before you start
- Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi.
- Have the QR code handy — it arrives via email after purchase or can be accessed in My Account → eSIMs.
- You can install the eSIM using another device to scan the QR code or manually by entering the SM-DP+ address.
Step by step: installation via QR code
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap on Cellular (or Cellular Data, depending on your iOS version).
- Tap on Add eSIM.
- Select the Use QR Code option.
- Point the iPhone camera at the QR code displayed on the other device (or computer screen).
- Confirm the installation. "Cellular Plan Detected" will appear.
- Tap Continue and wait a few seconds for the iPhone to download the profile.
- Give a label to the eSIM, like "Easy Chip USA" (this makes it easier later).
- Choose which chip is the primary (I recommend keeping the Brazilian one as primary).
- Select which chip will use Mobile Data — choose the Easy Chip eSIM.
Manual installation (without QR code)
If you prefer to enter the codes manually:
- Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Enter Details Manually.
- Enter the SM-DP+ address and the Activation Code found in your customer area.
- Tap Next and wait for the installation.
Important tips
- Install before the trip: installation requires Wi-Fi, but activation works at the destination.
- Mobile data off: keep the mobile data of the eSIM turned off until you arrive at your destination, so the plan doesn't start counting.
- Data roaming on: on the Easy Chip eSIM, you must enable the "Data Roaming" option (this is how the iPhone connects to the local network). There is no extra cost.
- iMessage and FaceTime: continue working through the Brazilian chip with your original number.
How to activate at the destination
- Upon arrival, go to Settings → Cellular.
- Select the eSIM "Easy Chip".
- Enable Mobile Data and Data Roaming.
- Done — you are connected to the local network.
Common troubleshooting
- "Could not add eSIM": check Wi-Fi, restart the iPhone, and try again.
- Expired QR code: each QR code is permanent until installed. If you have a problem, contact support.
- No signal at the destination: toggle airplane mode on/off, check if "Data Roaming" is active on the eSIM.
